WW 1: How does this feature in the text and how is it depicted?

The events that took place in Gertrude Stein’s book, “The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas” took place during the World War 1. For this reason, the war features in the text a lot. It is described as having destabilized people’s lives due to the loss of life and property it caused. The soldiers fighting the war would attack cities, thereby causing immense havoc. The outlook is seen in the opening paragraph of the book, where Gertrude tells of a boy who always said that his father was going to war.
