Introduction and thesis statement paragraph has already been written:
The world is full of many evil and good hearted people. Are you one of the good or evil? In the two short stories, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oats and “Young Goodman Brown,” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, evil plays a major role. In “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” Oats characterizes evil within Arnold as he becomes the antagonist that bullies the protagonist, Connie. Connie has to face a man versus man conflict due to Arnold’s constant suppression towards her. In the short story “Young Goodman Brown,” evil is evident within the devil, along with every member of the village Goodman Brown lives in. After encountering the devil Goodman Brown begins to question his faith creating a man versus self conflict. It has been argued that Arnold’s cruel characteristics and treatment of Connie would make him the ultimate evil. It is clear that Arnold is a very evil man and his treatment of Connie is uncalled for. However, it must be considered that the large amount of evil Goodman Brown has to endure in his life by the end of the short story completely outweighs Arnold. With the use of setting, conflict, and Goodman Brown’s view of faith Hawthorne is able to depict more evil, when compared to Oats. This is because Goodman Brown has to live the rest of his life surrounded by evil, compared to Connie who is dead by the end of the short story, therefore no longer having to face evil again.
No you should be good, the introduction paragraph is already written for you to use. So base the rest of it off of the thesis.
