Paper instructions
For this essay, you may choose any topic that you find interesting. This is a combination informative/opinion essay, which means that you must provide some background information on your topic, supported by research, and you must take a stand or put forth your opinion on the topic, also supported by research.
Use web-based sources judiciously. For any web-based source you want to use, you must have an author, and the article must come from a vetted website.
Use the databases, including Opposing Viewpoints in Context, CQ Researcher, EBSCO, and the New York Times.
Follow the research steps! Don’t go fishing for information on a thesis you think you already know.
Think about what interests you, then read a bunch of articles about that topic. Once you have a broad base of knowledge, THEN you can think of a thesis.
Your essay will be around 4 pages in length, not counting the Works Cited page. Use Noodle Tools for your works cited page. Be sure you are inputting the correct information into the citation generator on Noodle Tools, or your citations will be incorrect. Remember, the first word of the citation is NEVER a .com or an organization.
Create an introduction that generates interest and gives the thesis, give a section of background on your topic, prove each of your RTBs in its own paragraph, and conclude without adding new information.
