Nobody realizes that people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal. That is a famous quote by Albert Camus. When I first read the quote the first thing I thought about is how most people have a phony sense of identity. So that we can understand each other better, we have to see the background of it all. The quote develops a sense of ignorance where we have a deluded sense of something, and that is being unique. It is as a result of ignorance. Thus, we seek normal comfort zones that make us loose our identity. In the process of losing our identity as a result of wanting to be normal, we end up losing our mind in a way that leads to mental illness.
