The United States of America faced public opinion of having entered into a war without an exit strategy, and therefore the general view of both of the fights declined over time. In Vietnam, the United States aimed to stop the spread of communism after being requested to help by South Vietnamese but this aim was blurred, and many civilians ended up getting killed. The war almost divided America as many people were against the role of their country in the war.
