Response 1:) TYRONZA

In the article The Role of Personal Values in Decision-Making, Dick Gordon says “no person is valueless”, meaning each person has their own set of biases that affects how they make decisions (p 59). Daily leaders are challenged to make decisions for the best interest of their teams and companies or organizations. Ivancevich (2018) mentions decisions as a response or solution to a desired result (p 374). How and what happens when a leader’s values affect the decision-making process?

The decision-making process consists of stages leaders and organizations can go through to effectively deal with problems. When a leader goes through the process of making decisions based on personal beliefs or values it can be either helpful or harmful for the organization,. more specifically when it comes to ethics. Ivancevich mentions when values are taken into account for decision-making leaders tend to focus on what is fair, good, honest, and right as the leader understands the decisions, goals, and outcomes that will be made ultimately affects others (p 383). For instance, when setting goals, or developing solutions to the problems the leader will gravitate towards those goals or objectives that more align with their own personal beliefs. The organization’s own mission and values must also align with a leader’s own personal values as well. If the two are not aligned then this could be a recipe for disaster as the decisions that the organization makes may not be in alignment with what the individual leader may see as priority or as a fair and equitable decision or solution. Ivancevich (2018) ends with mentioning the need for leaders to pay attention and be careful when thinking through the decision-making process as the wrong decision sometimes steer those who are ethical to make unethical decisions based on competition, pressure, cost savings, and not wanting to take accountability (p383). Ultimately organizations must ensure they select candidates that are in alignment with their values and vice versa leaders must ensure the same as this will allow the decision-making process to be smoother when it comes to generating solutions.

Problem-solving should be the center of any organizational structure because of the importance of evolving and thriving through the conflicts that will naturally arise from all business angles. Romans 12:2 (English Standard Version) states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” It is indispensable to be able to have the ability to make the best decision possible each time an issue presents itself, no matter how large or small the problem is. Ivancevich et al. (2018) explained that understanding what will drive employees to be better is an essential aspect that leadership can use to make good decisions that will support the organization’s future possibilities. Being efficient and growing is provided that trust, favor, and belief from the subordinates can be met daily. There is no scenario where aides should be making the decisions. Still, the input that will allow people in the workplace to be motivated to achieve goals is essential to the power structure that makes the company thrive.

Diagnosis of problems is imperative because you must know what issues need to be corrected, and also, it can give administrators the ability to promote motivation to their employees. The basis for employees is often a key ingredient to production levels rise. Being able to garner input in a decision gives workers a sense of pride and ownership that will drive them to look to more success. Skipping over a diagnostic process of problems will cause a stagnant attitude and a tendency to overlook real issues that must be fixed. Finding the right mix of motivation and structure to the organization that will promote an atmosphere of constant improvement and efficiency will bring out the best in any organization in due time.
