The recent empirical studies conducted by psychologists have proved that there are five fundamental traits of personality. The five personality traits are extroversion, agreeableness, neuroticism, conscientiousness and openness (Pennington, 2018). Earlier psychological theories had attempted to examine the exact number of personality traits. For instance, Gordon Allport had established a number of personality traits to be four thousand while Raymond Catell improved on Gordon psychological theory to narrow down the personality traits to be sixteen.
