General Athletic Policies

General athletic policies are frameworks that describe some of the major activities that need to be conducted within an athletics department. Each activity that needs to be conducted within an athletic department must be guarded by various policies and rules. Some of these policies relate to scheduling of events, promotions, hiring officials, transportation, management of equipment and facilities, and spectator management. Scheduling of events is the act of planning the time certain events are supposed to take place and who should participate. Finding a suitable time for an event to take place is not an easy task for the management of an athletic department since many considerations have to be assessed. Event scheduling is an important step in event planning since it determines the location, the activities that are to be undertaken, and the participants in advance.
