Lessons Learned from National Stuttering Awareness Week
Firstly, experiences with stuttering determine the effort made in addressing the challenges that people suffering from the condition face while interacting with others. The development of the stuttering week came from a personal experience from interacting with others.
Secondly, the stuttering week was created in 1988, and a state representative in Delaware, who suffered from stuttering while speaking to individuals, did lobbying for its existence. Ultimately, it has become a national activity, signed by President Reagan in 1988.
