How Can We Make Healthcare Delivery Different?
On August 13, 2016, Jessica “Jess” Jacobs died at the age of 29 from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). Described as a patient advocate, she was a Director of Aetna’s Innovation Lab. Jess shared her patient journey through a fragmented healthcare system which is difficult to navigate, even for those with a good working knowledge of it.
This patient’s story illustrates the challenges faced by many patients with rare or chronic diseases in obtaining the medical care they truly need.
