As a human services professional, there are many areas where one can have a positive impact across the society. Determining the area where one would be best suited is an important step towards ensuring that they are part and parcel of improving the society. The area I believe I would have the greatest impact in my work as a human services professional is in the mental health area. The at-risk students at the elementary school could be facing many and complex issues relating to their emotional well-being. At-risk students include individuals who have come from abusive families, have had issues with drug abuse and drug addiction, suffered rape or other different types of strife in their past.
