Rowland Hussey Macy is one of the investors who began with small businesses and that later evolved due to determination and creativity to one of the most successful companies. Macy made several trials like the 1844 needle and thread store that failed just like another dry store goods he established in 1846. After several trials in Boston, California and other locations, Macy decided to move to New York City to start a business on his own. In 1858, he opened R.H Macy & Co. that is located on the corner of the 6th Avenue and 14th Street because back then it was a low-rent district. The store was mainly dealing with dry goods which on the first day of business yielded $11.06 (Hanson, 2017). Later in the year, the store continued to make more sales and the annual revenue on the first year was &85,000.
