Effects of Crusades
Crusades were sequences of religious conflict amongst the Christians and the Muslims for purposes of securing control of holy places that the religions considered sacred. There were eight major crusade voyages that transpired from in between 1096 to 1291. The crusades were often bloody, ruthless and violent wars that propelled the European Christian status making them the major players in the combat for land in the Middle East. The crusades had long-term effects on the participants and the communities of the European and Middle East people some of which include: Western civilization and extended reach for Christianity. This is because the Roman Catholic Church proficiently increased in wealth and the power of Pope, leader of the Roman Catholic Church was elevated after the crusades ended.
