The epic of Gilgamesh
This is an epic poem which was unearthed in the region where the ancient Mesopotamia was located. It is termed as the most extensive surviving work of literature and begins with five poems written in Sumerian concerning the king of Uruk and dates from the third dynasty of Ur. Translations to these works of poetry have had a significant effect on understanding some of the literacy skills practiced in Europe today.
The valley of the kings
This is a valley in Egypt which is also referred to as the valley of the gates of the kings. The east valley of the two valleys is where a majority of the tombs of the kings are located. This region contains graves where the majority of the kings of the new Egyptian kingdom are buried. This region shed some light on the rulers of ancient Egypt and their mode of governments which had far-reaching effects to both the European and Arab world.
