HOW INFORMATION MEDIA HAS AFFECTED AMERICAN CULTURE
Do the news and information media have an obligation to be socially responsible, or is it expendable in the name of the greater good?
With today’s technology, information has become extensively accessible. One does not have to look for newspapers, magazines or watch the television to access information. All they need is a tablet or a smartphone and they can get any type of information they want. However, the recipients always presume that the information present is true. Information media, therefore, has a duty to be socially responsible. It is the responsibility of mass media to produce evidence-based information to the people but also honor the importance of withholding matters related to national security, (Pavlik, 2008).
