The second argument by Crito is mainly based on Socrates commitment and strict belief in the adherence to the rules of the law. Socrates seeks explanations that will lead him to make the reasonable decision by evaluating the laws of Athens and the part he plays in the state. In his dialogue, therefore, the second argument of Crito is born where the determinants and requirements of laws and governance are explained. Socrates arguments, therefore, are meant to explain his decision to remain in prison while he was convicted unjustly and why he choose the death sentence rather than escaping (Woozley, 1979).
