Realism Versus Neorealism
Realism views the situations of the world as they actually are instead of how they should be. Additionally, realism is concerned with the negative things and stresses on the consistent patterns of power politics as evidently shown by recurrent conflicts, rivalries, and wars. Neorealism, on the other hand, is based more on economic theory and philosophy of science rather than historical reflections. Neorealism also focuses on the positive side of the world’s situations. Over the years, realists have used concepts such as the balance of power and security issues as their analytical tools. These realists argue that the international outcome is mainly determined by the distribution of power and potentiality in different states.
