INTRO TO MEDIA & SOCIETY- Paper 2

INTRO TO MEDIA & SOCIETY- Paper 2

Paper 2: Solutions

In this course we are covering several different potential impacts of media consumption. For this paper, you need to choose an effect we’ve addressed (or will address) in class and propose a solution to help mitigate a harmful effect or enhance a positive effect.

As you write your paper, here are specific questions to answer:

Describe the effect you are targeting. Provide information about what is known about this effect (what type of content causes it, what type of person is most affected, etc.), drawing on course material for your answer.
Propose a practical solution for this media effect. Provide detailed information about what your solution involves.
Discuss why we would have reason to believe that the solution you are proposing would work. Focus on process here. That is, why and how does this effect happen? What part of the process is your solution designed to address? Again, use material from the course to support your answer.
All parts of the assignment must be typed. The essays combined should not exceed 2 total pages of double spaced text (not counting references). Use one-inch margins, a regular font style (e.g., Times New Roman), and size. Assignments must be submitted to Canvas.

Media and Society
In this course, we covered different potential impacts of media consumption on the society. These impacts are both negative and positive. However, the negative impacts seem to outweigh the benefits that the society receives from media. As a result, it is imperative to develop solutions that would help mitigate these negative effects on the people at the societal level. Doing this will also ensure that the use of media only promotes positive aspects among people in the society. One of the biggest problems that is associated with media is that it has led to the spread of fake news across different forms of media in the recent past. Fake news refers to a type of propaganda where media houses deliberately spread information that is incorrect through the traditional news media such as television and newspaper. It is also being used on more recent types of media such as social media and digital media.
