Every human activity in contemporary society is dependent on the use of energy. Lack of electricity or gas could extensively paralyze the economy, with people incapable of engaging in daily activities in addition to a reduction in movement. In essence, the modern economy is primarily based on the availability of electricity and gas for various activities, a situation that has resulted to adverse changes to the climate in addition to being unsustainable for use in the long run (Hook and Tang 797). Burning carbon based fuels, which form the primary source of energy for contemporary society results to the emission of carbon to the atmosphere, which has resulted in extensive changes to the climatic conditions and general environment, in effect necessitating changes in human activities and lifestyle to address the existing issues.
