Jim crow was one of the racist terms for the black people. The Jim Crow laws were the laws that legalized racial segregation in southern America during the era of reconstruction and also in the commencement of the civil rights movements. These laws provided a systematic basis for discriminating and segregating against black Americans. During the late 1870s, the freedmen and carpetbaggers no longer controlled the southern state legislatures. The requirement of the passed laws that the blacks be separated from the whites in schools and public transportations were abandoned.
