Jim Crow Laws in Tennessee
When the era of Reconstruction ended, the black southerners lost their voting rights. The southerners now started pushing for racial segregation which is the separation of the whites from the blacks. Tennessee, being one of the southern states, enacted twenty of Jim Crows laws. These were laws that the local and state governments in the United States adopted to enhance racial segregation in the southern states.
