Defendants who belong to a diverse or unique population are often denied their rights by the criminal justice system. Deaf defendants should also enjoy the constitutional rights enjoyed by the hearing defendants (Fellman, 1977). Accused persons who are deaf need to enjoy the same right which is provided under the Miranda warnings and the rights provided under the Sixth Amendment.
