Introduction
Among the major disasters that have ever left the United States of America devastated was Hurricane Katrina in August 2015. This natural calamity involved the swelling of the ocean water following a disastrous category 5 tempest that caused a massive landfall in Louisiana and Florida especially in New Orleans. The flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina occurred due to poor engineering of the levees which are manmade flood protection walls that hold ocean water from the main dry land. The resultant end of this natural disaster included both human and property losses enough to leave the affected areas confounded with loss and grief. Even though Hurricane Katrina stands at position four according to the hurricane’s intensity, after Hurricane Camille, Hurricane Michael, and 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, the damages caused were so intense that the government of the United States of America had to work on some countermeasures which would protect its territories from such unprecedented turn of events.
