Hearsay is a rule in the law of evidence which means the statements offered as evidence during the trial by a person other than the maker of the statement is inadmissible in court. When the witness tries to testify on what another person who is not a witness said the court would not accept such evidence. The rule was brought in to prohibit the use of a statement of another person. The statement will not pass the credibility test.
