I’m working on a business Discussion and need an explanation to help me study.

Schein makes a lot of interesting points in this week’s reading related to culture standing the test of time, he states “leaders create culture, and it is leaders who have to manage cultures that are in organizational midlife and beyond if the environment, technological, economic, or political changes create the treat of organizational decline (Schein, 2017).” Through this week’s reading, it helped me better understand that culture is a living and breathing piece of an organization; constantly evolving and that must be nurtured to stand the test of time. Culture is not a simple idea written on paper that can be put in a desk drawer, for it benefits the organization’s culture it must be developed. A main function of leadership that desires to have a strong culture that continues to evolve is to “recognize the cultural consequences of different ways of differentiating (Schein, 2017)”, this quote comes into play as subcultures develop their own sense of belonging within the organization, the leader still plays a critical part in this level because they then become responsible for “coordinating, aligning and integrating the different subcultures (Schein, 2017).”Schein, E. H., & Schein, P. (2017). Organizational Culture and Leadership (5th ed.). Hoboken, NJ: John Wiley & Sons.
