Question

After reading Chapter 10, Using Language, view the following speech on TED https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_lesser_take_the_other_to_lunch. Identify at least five different types of language structure (metaphor, simile, alliteration, etc.) that she used during her speech. In no less than 250 words, talk about how her usage of these linguistic methods impacted her speech. Did it make it more understandable or did it confuse you? Did some of the words that she used to trigger certain emotions in you? What did it mean to you when she talked about the “grit of the warrior and the grace of the mystic”? Please openly and honestly talk about what your take-away is from this speech and why you feel that way. I trust all of you to speak respectfully but please share your true feelings about her speech.
