How does Proulx use the setting of the West to talk about the United States as a nation?
Instructions
Concept maps can help reveal connections between ideas that might otherwise remain submerged, particularly for the visual learners among us. For this week’s assignment, follow the instructions on the concept mapping instruction sheet attached below.
Concept maps are created on paper with one or more colors of pen, so when you have finished your concept map please photograph it and upload it here.
1. Create a concept map (using the instruction sheet attached) with two centers: one called “mythical west” and one called “Proulx’s west.” As you branch out each concept map, find a way to represent the connections and disconnects between these two concepts (you could do this with different colors, different styles of line, etc.).
2. Use your concept map to answer the following question: How does Proulx use the setting of the West to talk about the United States as a nation? Your answer should be no more than 1 page, double spaced.
