By conducting clinical trials in developing countries, we are able to test new drugs more quickly for about 60% less cost than if we operate in the U.S. or Europe. Getting affordable drugs to market quickly benefits everyone.Developing countries offer a large, genetically diverse population which is important for drug development, and we bring access to treatment that these communities would not otherwise have. Researchers and doctors in the host country have an opportunity for training on drug development and on cutting edge medical practice. Under resourced hospitals have an opportunity for an infusion of funding. Ultimately, the potential for harm must be balanced with the potential benefits for individuals and human health in general.
