Here is some background. You can use this information to create

Hello Everyone,
My name is Zina. I started my educational journey in 2015. My career goal is to
become a Substance Abuse Counselor. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science
degree in Human Services. I have obtained my AA degree and my Addiction Studies
Certificate at SPC. I have not had the opportunity to work within the human service
field yet as I currently manage two households while taking care of my 4 grandbabies
who are 8, 6, 4, and 2.  In addition, I help my 82-year-old uncle who lives
independently but needs more and more assistance managing his daily life and other
affairs. A career in Substance Abuse, Behavioral Disorder, and Mental Health
Counseling is a noble calling that requires a unique dedication to the welfare of others.
Substance Abuse, Behavioral Disorder, and Mental Health Counselors provide a vital
service to the communities in which they serve, and it is often only through their
dedication that the disadvantaged can find the help and support they need in times of
crisis. I know I have that calling and can use my experience and education to help others.
I know I can be an inspiration and a great counselor to those who are struggling or feel
hopeless and give them back hope and a new type of life.
Step 2: Begin building a community by commenting on your
classmate’s introduction with either a similar interest or discussing
a statement in your classmate’s introduction that caught your
attention.
Step 3:  Review the grading rubric, which explains the expectations
for your post and reply.
Step 4:  After the posts and replies are graded, please click on the
Grades Tab to view your score, rubric, and feedback.
 Module 1 Written Assignment
Self-Reflection (30 points)
The purpose of this self-reflection is to integrate the module’s
readings into one’s own conceptualization of identity.
Step 1: If you have not already done so, please read Textbook 1.1
and 1.2 in this module.  Based on the readings, please answer the
following prompts:

 In Textbook 1.1, you were asked to think about one of the
cultures in which you participate and to ponder 10 questions
related to the culture you identified. You need not provide
the answers to the 10 questions. Instead, identify and explain
at least one thing you learned from doing this exercise,
including its meaning to you. This response should be one
paragraph.
 In Textbook 1.2, stigma was discussed. Explain at least one
idea or application you learned about stigma that you did not
previously know. This response should be one paragraph.
Step 2:  Dr. Joseph White, an icon in the field of psychology who
was known as the “godfather of Black psychology” discussed three
questions related to identity as follows:
 Who am I?
 Am I Who I Say I Am?
 Am I All That I Can Be?
In at least one paragraph, thoughtfully respond to Dr. White’s three
questions as applied to your own identity assessment.
Step 3: Review the grading rubric, which explains the expectations
for this assignment.
Step 4: Compose your responses to Steps 1 and 2 into one
document saved in Word, PDF, or RTF format and submit it to the
drop box.
