In this clip, a patient is brought into the hospital by doctors to try and save his life following a gunshot experience. In the clip, everyone is rushing in the emergency room to help in every way possible to resuscitate the patient. What I found realistic about the clip is the rush of doctors to help save a life. Even though they experienced difficulties like the exit door not opening fast and the lights going off, they had to do everything possible to save the patient. Also, the procedure carried out is realistic; for instance, they carried out vigorous chest compressions to squeeze blood through the body and I also observed them inserting a tube into the throat. The coordination of the doctors and nurses was top-tier as well.
What I found unrealistic about this clip is that they carried out the code blue without the involvement of family and getting the patient’s history. Code blue is not something that a nurse calls out, “We need code blue,” and doctors rush in and start with the chest compressions. The real impact of the procedure on a patient’s life can be devastating. In real life, emergencies are always organized and ER doctors are always ready for an emergency. But in the movie, it was unrealistic how the doctors were performing the code blue while they were on the lookout to flee. The lights even had to go off while performing the procedure, which in real life cannot happen. What was also unrealistic was that even after all the challenges they experienced, the patient survived. In real life, code blues are expected to be fast and any mistake or delay could result in death.
