Re: Topic 1 DQ 1
Main reason as to why I decided to pursue BSN in nursing was to further my studies. Being an RN graduate, it is my wish that I transform to BSN and most preferably in GCU. I settled for BSN due to several benefits attached to it as a nurse since it helps nurses to keep up with the latest technology. Furthermore, in order to provide quality care, nurses need to be conversant with new approaches based on research evidences facilitated by BSN since it is research based. Benefits of having BSN is that it comes with management and academic roles (Delaney, 2017). Furthermore, leadership role benefits both the patient and RNs.
My main problem that I think will affect my passion to complete the course is fear of unknown. This is because it my first online class. I find it very difficult to manage my time well with tight schedules and am not familiar with how the class works as well as expectations. Currently, working as an RN I have a lot of responsibilities to handle thus time management is my greatest challenge in terms of balancing work and class. One scholar Philip Murphy highlights numerous habits practiced by nursing students (Perfetto, 2019). Thus, advice nurses to dedicate time and focus on achieving his or her long-term goal for success. I strongly buy his idea since relying on lecture notes alone will not help but putting the basic into practice. In my personal opinion, I would definitely apply mixed strategies and keep adjusting them as time goes by top blend in with my life.

Example of how to cite an online book
“Nurses also have the continued opportunity for growth and career advancement into formal leadership roles such as nurse managers and supervisors” (Falkner, 2018). Often these positions will encourage you to have your BSN. Some positions are only attainable if you have a BSN or higher degree. You have made a great choice to advance your education at this time. Nursing is an amazing field with so much room for growth.

Re: Topic 1 DQ 1
I decided to pursue my BSN for two main reasons, meeting my goal of becoming an APRN and because my job requires that all RN’s obtain their BSN within three years of being hired. I am very fortunate that those two reasons coincide with one another. I am hoping that obtaining more education will allow me to be able to provide better care for my patients. Working in pediatrics, I am constantly wanting to learn the latest and greatest way to take care of tiny humans. I also feel like this degree will allow me to focus on leadership qualities. This will become more important as I progress in my career.
My main concern as I pursue this degree is that I will have a hard time managing my time with my work, personal things, and school. Balancing time with my family, managing course material, working full time, and being an effective nursing student can be a lot of work. Managing nursing school in any season of life is very challenging. Using available resources, breaking up my days into manageable blocks of time, being proactive and making goals that are realistic for me are what is going to make me a better student. (Murphy, 2015) Communicating with my boss and managing my stress (All Nursing School Staff, 2019) are things that I have already began working on. Exercise and eating right have seemed to help me get a jump start on keeping my stress to a minimum.
