The pathophysiologic mechanism that was responsible for causing diaphoresis in this patient and pallor was most likely the allergic reactions that the patient has skin allergies. The paleness was created by the pain and nausea and the fact that the patient had vomited twice. Promethazine releases nausea and vomiting as it is mainly an antiemetic as it is an anti-nausea drug and also as a sedative. This means that nausea drug relieves nausea which also reduces the vomiting.
