What is one global health organization that you would love to either work for or volunteer with
This is our last online discussion. I can’t believe it. You have been a great class.
Students in the past have written and said that they often found themselves talking to friends, family, and colleagues about issues they were thinking about in this course. This may have happened to you, too. Every term, I end up boring my family talking about stuff you bring up in the discussions. I learn along with you.
You may wonder why we write the way we do in this course. I found a quote that best summarizes my philosophy. It comes from a book by Lisa Wingate called: “The Book of Lost Friends”. Here is what Wingate wrote: “No two readers read the same book, because we all see the words through different eyes, filter the story through different life experiences”. The respect that you demonstrate to one another fills me with joy, as your ‘teacher’ and, more importantly, as your colleague.
Take care of yourselves. And, thank you for the time and energy you put into this course. It was never intended to be a ‘guilt trip’ course but, rather, an ‘awareness’ one. We have to first be aware before any change can happen in this world.
This quote is perfect for our course: “It’s important to open one’s eyes to a life different from one’s own – even for a little while”.

1. Skim through Chapters 16 and 18 in Skolnik (Working Together to Improve Global Health; Working in Global Health)
What is one global health organization that you would love to either work for or volunteer with – (cite Skolnik one time, please)? What is it about this organization that intrigues you? Tell us about them and the work that they do. If you could create a new global health organization, describe the work that it would do – and give it a name (you are the founder and CEO!).
2. Look through your colleagues’ answers in OD #2- OD #6. Find an idea that you did not include in your answers. What was that idea? What did you think about it? What are your thoughts about making responses to your colleagues’ answers each week?
3. Finally, what is one thing that you have learned by taking this course? I really hope that you have learned something new; but, if you haven’t, please feel free to say this, too. You have always been in a safe place, in this course, to express yourself in your own wonderful way.
