Assessing Outcomes from the Geriatric Depression Scale
Depression is common among older adults in the United States of America. It is a condition of the mind in which the individual has sudden mood changes. As individuals age, their physical and social lives change and they get depressed by both of these social and material losses. Physicians use the Geriatric Depression Scale to measure depression on a scale of 1 to 15. Any score above five means that the patient is depressed and that they need psychological assistance.
