One way of dealing with the cost of overcrowding in prisons it is essential to think of new ways in which prisons can get decongested. Releasing the elderly on parole is one way of decongesting the prisons. The elderly can be paroled on medical grounds or after taking into consideration factors such as the safety of the community. The parole of seniors can be done through the modification of compassionate release laws to allow the elderly to be released. The law provides for the release of the elderly or sick people to get an early release.
