Complete the virtual simulations listed for vision, hearing, mobility, and taste. Using the headings and list under EACH heading below and using your own words (no need to use a reference), write a brief paragraph (a few lines) for each subsection i.e. for glaucoma, macular degeneration, presbycusis, tinnitus, arthritis , hand tremors, etc. and describe:
- a) How you felt during the simulation and
- b) How having the condition simulated could affect a patient.

While wearing a blindfold, have another adult that you trust, feed you a small portion of food such as a small container of snack pudding, applesauce, or yogurt with a spoon. During this experience, observe what the food taste like, and what the feeding experience is like i.e. rate of feeding, amount of food placed on the spoon, type of communication and instructions used during feeding, etc.
Afterwards, switch places and feed the adult individual while he/she is blindfolded. Discuss this experience with the individual. Answer the questions below.
- What is the relationship of the adult person you fed. i.e. parent, brother, sister etc.
- Thoroughly describe what it felt like to be “blind” and fed by another person.
- Thoroughly describe what it felt like to feed a “blind” adult.
- How might being blind and having a comorbidity that limits use of ones hands affect a patient?
