Importance of social behaviour at the place of work

Scholars describe professional business etiquette as folk and knife at the dinner table, in this case, the latter representing the workplace. However, I am of the idea that knowing how to use the fork and knife is not enough, etiquette entails knowing how to not offend fellow diners at the dinner table with how you use the fork and knife. Proper business etiquette entails desirable social behaviour in the workplace.

The manner in which you behave in your place of work has a bearing on a couple of aspects including your job security, goal setting, attitude and the overall company’s image. Sub-standard and less-than-exemplary behaviour at the workplace could be detrimental and in the worst case scenario, it could cost the company money, having cost you that position in the organization.
