Reflect on the results of the Beliefs About Reading Interview.
Write a 700- to 875-word philosophy paper on your personal belief system regarding the teaching of reading.
Include the following information in your philosophy paper:
A reading autobiographical narrative (see Figure 1.2 on p. 55 of Reading and Learning to Read for directions on how to construct this.)
A description of the model of reading (interactive, top-down, or bottom-up) you most closely align with and reasons to support your selection
An explanation of outside influences on your belief system (e.g. college and high school classes, fellow teachers, influential individuals in your life, college professors, personal experiences in the classroom, etc.)
A reflection on specific examples where your theoretical orientation may or may not be evidenced in your current teaching environment
Cite your sources, and format your paper according to APA guidelines.
