(Topic 1) The Theban play is a play that consists of three plays namely Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus and Antigone. These plays discuss the fate of Thebes during and after the reign of King Oedipus. Oedipus was the king of Thebes a city which played a central role in many myths as depicted in the Greek mythology. He was the one responsible for ruling over the land and residents with a fair hand, but this myth is portrayed to end with a tragedy. This myth of Oedipus is sourced from Sophocles Oedipus Rex and Oedipus at Colonus.
