Issue Presented
When police officers arrest juveniles on the charges of drug use, what policy should be used in assessing the officers mandate to make arrests?
Short Answer
When assessing the officer’s mandate to make arrests, for juveniles on drug use, the policy to be used is one that supports lawful arrest of the offender at the time when the juvenile is charged by the offense. The need for a policy is to enable the officers combat drug use and juvenile crime.
