Identify interventions to achieve macro practice goals.
Getting Started
Throughout this course, you gradually have developed a social action project proposal that you could implement in your own community, making a plan to identify, describe, explore, and address an emerging organizational or community-level issue impacting your local community and to develop a realistic and achievable proposal for how you might address this emerging need. You spoke with stakeholders, collected data from the literature, reviewed other publicly available sources, and proposed a solution for this emerging need. In this module, you will submit your complete 4000-word proposal, which builds the case for such an intervention in your own community/organization.
Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
Synthesize dynamics of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human rights at the macro practice level. (PO 3)
Identify interventions to achieve macro practice goals. (PO 8)
Background Information
Your social action project proposal should synthesize what you have learned in the course about the social, economic, and environmental factors impacting your identified social need and a particular intervention which, given appropriate resources, you might be able to implement to meet that need. A proposal is your opportunity to demonstrate why the project is needed and how the macro social worker is uniquely qualified to meet that need. As with any proposal, you should fully introduce the project, use your findings to justify the social action project, and summarize how you are uniquely qualified to implement the project.
Instructions
Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
Write a complete 4000-word social action proposal, using the major sections developed in previous modules to contribute to this document. To meet the 4000-word limit, you will need to carefully edit your proposal, organize your findings, and reduce redundant information. Include the following major sections in your proposal:
Introduction: Briefly introduce your proposal, including a thesis statement that outlines the purpose of the proposal document.
Assessment: Describe the problem/need using data that you collected from the literature, public sources, and stakeholders.
Intervention: Provide a description of the proposed community/organizational intervention including incorporation of stakeholders.
Evaluation: Discuss your plan for evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention.
Termination and Follow-up: Your plan for termination and follow-up. Include, when appropriate, how you might use community/organizational partners to help sustain the change effort.
Summary: Provide an overview of the project, including content that you presented in the proposal, and a justification for how the macro social worker is positioned uniquely to help meet the social problem/need.
Important Note: You must incorporate instructor feedback that was provided each week.
Your proposal should follow APA guidelines for formatting, citations, and references. Your proposal also should reference your readings in this course, including the scholarly articles, websites, and the textbook.
Review the APA 6e Guide on how to cite sources properly.
