A woman comes to you for an initial interview. There is no history of drug or alcohol issues. There are no indications of hallucinations or delusions which would indicate a psychosis. She seems confused and gives wrong answers to simple obvious questions such as, “How many legs does a dog have?” Her answer was 5. What is your diagnosis and why? Is there any further information you may need to make your diagnosis?

According to research it is clear that healthy people significantly differ in their overall mood, behavior and personality. Additionally, each person also diverges depending on the circumstances around them. In many cases, a sudden or major personality changes that are not obvious are basically caused by either loss of a loved one or even taking a drug often indicates a major problem (Jung, 2014).

            However, in a case whereby, someone in an interview gets confused to an extent of giving wrong answers to simple questions and there is no indication of psychosis then most probably should be a result of anxiety that leads to confusion.
