Martial law is the application of military control of the usual civilian functions in a state, mainly in response to an emergency such as disasters, or terrorism. Apparently, in the US, the martial law has been applied in limited circumstances such as circumstances for instance, after the Great Chicago fire, San Francisco earthquakes, Utah war and Illinois Mormon war.
