The survey is a set of questions to understand the relationship between the variables. The questionnaire and the wording, along with the length of the survey, have a substantial impact on the outcome. Developing a proper survey by asking the right amount and type of questions is to reduce measurement errors. The respondents react based on what they are thinking, and all of them might take the question differently (Kimberlin & Winterstein, 2008). A split survey can reduce the chances of error to provide reliable and valid data. The cleaner the data, the better the interpretation could be.
To overcome is challenges, it is always better to start with a pilot study to check the consistency and the chances of errors. Asking the same type of question multiple times may also give an error. Mostly the smaller the questionnaire there are more chances of errors if we ask for responses in a question version at the end of the survey (Peytchev & Peytcheva, 2017).
While designing a question, choices must be defined clearly, and all questions must lead in one direction. The respondent should be able to understand the questions clearly and must be able to understand them at the same level as the survey preparer thinks them to understand. The negatively asked question may confuse the respondents, leading to both unreliable and invalid data (Ferguson, 2000).
