Military strategy is always an important aspect of setting out and succeeding in various military campaigns. A study on the Charlemagne era between 768 and 814 revealed that, among other strategies, long distance pincer approaches were highly effective in helping the vast army converge on the enemy, to the extent of suffocating and subduing him, often resulting in victories (Bachrach, 2002).
