Reading Smoke
Firefighters play a critical role in the society, as they help save lives in critical situations in addition to being the first respondents in the event of a fire situation. From a layman’s perspective, anyone gave a hosepipe and adequate water supply could aid in helping put out fires under different circumstances. However, it would be important to note that it takes significant expertise and knowledge about fires for one to be an effective and safe firefighter. The professionals not only work in potentially dangerous situations, but their decisions could play a major role in determining whether one survives a fire experience or perishes. The same extends to the colleagues within the same situations since decisions made within an emergency situation affect the safety of all parties involved in the situation. Consequently, reading the various elements of a fire is always critical to a firefighting situation, which explains the importance of reading smoke in any fire emergency response.
