The social institution I chose to focus on is religion. People have a right to worship in some parts of the world, but others have no power. It is crucial to allow people to choose their religion as it is more of a spiritual decision. However, this is not the case as there is a lot of stratification in religion. The functionalist theory helps explain the way that different aspects of society are efficient. It focuses on defining relationships between different parts of the community. The approach demonstrates that religion contributes to placing an order in society as well as brings people together. Religion plays a significant role in society as it helps them feel as if they belong. The functionalist theory helps in telling the importance of stability in the community. Religion helps people focus on the same goal as well as help create strong bonds that keep them together.
