In the “Poetry for Everyday Life,” there are confusing economic data about British press and congressional actions. The poem can generate some metaphors that are capturing the mind of the reader. The metaphor of economies gaining tractions creates a literal way of understanding recession with confusing data. Another metaphor appeared when the author compared the momentum with cigarette snuffs.
