The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides grant funding and reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children who are enrolled for care at participating child care centers and daycare homes. CACFP also provides funding for meals served to young children participating in afterschool care programs.

Reflect back on Unit 1 and the hypothetical (or actual) early childhood organization/program that you envision yourself leading. Then, explore the CACFP grant funding prospect.

Discuss two ways that you can cultivate a relationship with CACFP to enhance a commitment with your organization.
Briefly describe a proposed CACFP grant funding request for the provision of nutritious snacks to young children in your afterschool program.
