Deciding on which research method to use is important. Ellis and Levy (2009) suggest that the type of study an individual conducts depends upon the problem, the body of knowledge, as well as the quality of existing data. The research method that is appealing is the case study research method. It is an initial preference because it utilizes qualitative data. According to Ellis and Levy (2009), this research method evaluates evidence from multiple real-life sources. This type of research focuses on the development of in-depth understanding.

During this DBA program, I would like to complete the action research. Action research is unique in the approach of the researcher himself or herself are part of the practitioner’s group that faces the actual problem. Action research consists of the following a) Diagnosing the problem; b) Planning the action; c) Taking the action; d) Evaluating the results, and e) Specifying lessons learned for the next cycle. By using the following steps, it gives steps of the action research, of all the steps of the action research.

Identifying a problem can be challenging, not because there is a lack of topics that could be investigated, but due to the challenge of formulating a worthy research problem that is unique and does not simply duplicate the work of others. According to Ellis & Levy (2008), research is worthy when a natural, identifiable abstract is connected between the research problem and the research being conducted to address the issue. In order to develop a well-articulated and viable statement of a research-worthy problem, one must know the difference between a research problem and a statement of the problem. A research problem is an area of concern that needs further understanding or a gap in the existing knowledge that needs to be addressed. A statement of the problem is a claim that outlines the problem addressed by the study.

Please explain the importance of developing a well-articulated and viable statement of a research-worthy problem as the starting point for all research.
Why is it important to have a well-defined research problem? It is essential because the researcher can become confused without a clear and well-defined research problem. What is a worthy research problem? Ellis and Levy (2008) identify a research-worthy problem as an impactful problem that does not have a currently viable solution and solving it will result in “an original contribution to the applicable body of knowledge” (p. 24). However, in the absence of a clear and well-defined research problem, the researcher can become confused. Disciplines, including information systems, engineering, and education, accept how important it is to form research on a clearly expressed problem statement.
